Newborn Sleep Services

One of the top concerns parents have is related to their baby’s sleep. Is she getting enough? Why won’t he fall asleep on his own? When will she sleep through the night? We can help you answer these questions and so many more.

The chances are good that your baby doesn’t get enough restorative sleep. Not only are you exhausted, but your baby is missing out on a critical element for proper development. Just like food and air, sleep is an absolute necessity to humans. Your baby needs sleep to grow and learn, and for long term health benefits. Your health is dramatically affected by sleep deprivation too. Your immune system, memory, energy, coordination, hormones, weight and adrenals are impacted negatively by lack of restorative sleep. Good sleep habits for your little one can restore health to everyone in the home.

For newborns, our sleep conditioning method is gentle, effective and supports all the foundations of health. We have helped hundreds of families receive a good night’s sleep; bringing health and balance back to struggling parents.

Older babies and toddlers also benefit from our popular sleep training program, which is customized to each family and child. We understand the one-size-fits-all plan won’t work for most families. Your child is not a robot, which means there are as many ways to adjust sleep habits as there are children who need a change. We’re here to support you and nurture your little one’s lifelong skill of independent and healthy sleep.

When will my baby sleep through the night?

Most parenting books consider sleeping through the night to be five to six hours of sleep. We politely disagree and consider “through the night” to be ten to twelve hours of sleep (whereby the child doesn’t require your assistance). No humans actually sleep straight through the night; we toss and turn, check the clock and peak in on our children. We don’t remember most of these nighttime wakings, but they happen. So, our version of sleeping through the night includes these normal wakeful patterns. If you start early (before 10 weeks of age), your baby is likely to sleep ten to twelve hours by 12 weeks of age. The earlier you begin to establish healthy habits, the easier your journey to sleep will be.

Do you use 'cry it out'?

We present parents with all the methods suitable for their child and suggest which ones will work for each family’s unique needs. We do not advocate allowing a young baby to cry for extended periods without intervention. For babies older than 4 months of age, some protest crying is likely. Our techniques greatly reduce the total amount of crying by addressing the child’s other foundations – in essence, preparing the child for this new skill. The sleep training methods we use are integrative and always include a full assessment of all health foundations.

What are health foundations?

Before implementing any sleep conditioning or training method, we assess the baby’s nutrition, development, environment, emotional well-being, family dynamics and health history. We want to ensure all the baby’s needs are being met prior to implementing a plan for altering sleep habits.

At what age should we start thinking about our baby’s sleep habits?

Like most things, prevention is the best medicine. When you begin a sleep-conditioning plan with your newborn by 8-12 weeks of age, you are able to establish healthy sleep habits and avoid the dreaded “cry it out” method when the child is older. You can start introducing healthy sleep foundations right from birth and you’ll still be able to nurse exclusively, if that is how you plan to feed your baby.
